In order to carry out this project, a technical team has been set up consisting of experts from the different participating archipelagos, with experience in the management of this type of risk and linked to entities of recognized prestige in the field of geological and geotechnical engineering, and in civil engineering.
The methodology used will be to elaborate, the documentation listed below as an initial and provisional index of the document.
- 1.Establish a slope instability assessment system based on the factors that cause its presence and those that ultimately trigger its collapse, which may consist of:
o Identify and classify the conditioning factors of slope instability in the volcanic archipelagos of Macaronesia.
o Identify the factors that trigger the instability of hillsides in Macaronesia.
o Elaborate a classification of volcanic slopes according to the factors that intervene in their instability.
2. Proposal of analytical methods for identification and assessment of hillside instability as well as design criteria for adequate protection measures for each case that will be developed through:
o The proposal of a geomechanical classification for macaronesian volcanic terrains.
o The proposal and adaptation of analytical calculation methods for the assessment of slope instability.
o The proposal of preventive measures for control and protection of hillsides.
3. Identification of the degree of exposure to natural risks that is assumed in each situation based on the application of methodologies for the analysis of risks by movement of hillsides based on the probability of the event, considering the effects of climate change and its consequences.
o Deadlines will be established for the delivery of documents, which will then be discussed in virtual meetings through videoconferencing and face-to-face meetings that will be organized to carry out the public exhibitions and dissemination events foreseen in the program, exchange the documentation prepared by correcting, completing and modifying if agreed upon in your case, until you reach the final document agreed by the project partners.
All these documents will be written taking into account the geological singularity of the archipelagos of Macaronesia, all of them with a common denominator: its volcanic nature.
